How to use TrailStuff's vast database of over 4,000 items

There are two ways to find items on our web site; browsing and searching. Browse when you are looking for books on a general topic like "paddling guides for Australia". Search for a book when you know its title or author but don't know where we have categorized it.

How to browse for books on the TrailStuff web site.

Our books and videos are organized by topic categories (i.e. 'Backpacking', 'Bicycling', etc., see the topic links at the upper left column on any page). These topics are much like they'd be if a "bricks and mortar" bookstore actually carried them. Once you are at these topic pages, you will see sub-topics where the books are further organized by type (e.g., Techniques, Guides, Narratives, etc). Finally, the Guides are further subdivided in geographic areas (either by the USA state, click on the map or by the text for larger geographic areas). Anytime you are on one of these sub-topic pages, try using your browser's 'FIND' feature (usually by pressing CTRL+F) and entering a keyword.

Please note that all our maps have their own topic category, where they are then further organized by topic (e.g., Backpacking, Bicycling, etc). So, if you are looking for a climbing map for example, first go to our map page then use the 'Climbing' link.

By organizing our books this way we have tried to give the feel of leisurely browsing in a 'real' bookstore. (Sorry, we do not have an espresso stand in the corner yet.) We encourage you to try it.

But this leisurely browsing arrangement is limiting when you're in a hurry to look for a particular item and don't have time to figure out which sub-category we've slotted it into. So, just like in a physical bookstore, you can ask our knowledgeable "clerk" where we've put that elusive title. In our case, that knowledgeable clerk is our button.

To do a Full Search

Click on the Search button at the top of any page. From there you can select to search by title, author, sport and geographical area.

Happy hunting!
